I used to work in the area and this was one of my team's favorite spots. I recommended ordering ahead for pick up as the wait can be pretty long during the lunch rush. The ginger chicken with rice is bomb and is pretty much what I always order.. to be honest it's what the majority of my team would order haha. It's a family friendly spot with lots of local Hawaiian food options.

Outside of poke (big emphasis on this), Kauai Family Restaurant, in my opinion, serves the best Hawaiian food in Seattle. Granted that I haven't gone to that many places that specialize in Hawaiian food, if you're looking for a hearty Hawaiian platter, this is the place to go to. The interior of this humble restaurant is quaint and small, but it has a lot of character that reminded my wife and me of our Hawaiian honeymoon to Kauai. Point of kudos to being situated next to Cakes of Paradise (future review in the making). We ordered: Lau Lau combo platter Oxtail soup I had THE BEST Lau Lau pork in Kauai - it was so good, that we went to the same restaurant 4 different times in the span of a week to get it. So needless to say, I was pretty excited to try this one. Wrapped in the traditional banana leaf, I was pleased that the pork was really tender and flavorful, and although it can't really hold a candle to the one in Kauai, it did its job. The other pork option was a bit dry though, and the salmon (that came in a super small container) had to act as the saving grace. That mac salad was really good - super creamy and moist. Despite the sweetness to it, it was tiny bit salty, but I won't complain about that. The soup that my wife got also had really tender meat, but the broth was really salty. Still warming though for a rainy Seattle day. Overall, this place is solid for Hawaiian food. Although it didn't whisk us back to our honeymoon days in Kauai, it was still quite good and hearty. I would definitely come back to try their other meat options, as apparently the ginger chicken is one of their coveted menu items. Mahalo, Kauai Family Restaurant! I'll be seeing you soon in the near future.

Busy busy busy during lunch time on a Friday. You order at the counter for takeout or dine in. Take a seat and somehow the girl at the register remembers what you order and delivers your food with a smile! Be sure to take a bite with all the components. The chicken was seasoned and crispy, the brown gravy added a nice salty element, the mac salad was a creamy complement .
